JENNY FLANNAGAN
Hi I'm Jenny! I am an arts psychotherapist which means I was trained to use all kinds of creative mediums in my therapy work. I studied in London at the Institute for the Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) and qualified with an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, a diploma in Counselling Teenagers and a Postgraduate Certificate in the Therapeutic Arts. Today I work as a therapist with a mixture of adults and young people, both within the NHS and in private practice.
For the past three years I have managed a national project offering free online support for teenagers struggling with self-harm, and I have spent a lot of time helping young people to make sense of the story behind their harming behaviours. Before I trained as as a therapist I was an actress and I still have a small cabaret theatre company that I perform with now. I also spent a number of years working in international development and got to travel to communities all around the world, helping to share stories of transformation. I am passionate about story-telling in all kinds of different contexts, and love helping the people I work with to find ways to tell their own story.
Having only recently moved to Devon I am still over-excited about the beautiful beaches, rivers and forests on my doorstep so most of my free time is spent exploring with my family.
