Ellie Coleman

Hi I’m Ellie, I work as a fundraising officer for YAHT. My background is in cultural engagement and education. I completed a fine art degree at University of Plymouth, before training as an art and design teacher. I found I loved teaching, but not in a school environment, so moved to work in engagement and education roles with families, young people and communities in cultural organisations such as Arnolfini, National Museum Cardiff and Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Gallery.
Through these roles, and my freelance work, I have built a strong skill set in project management, fundraising and evaluation.
My work is informed by co-creation processes, with an aim to highlight underrepresented voices and empower people to tell their stories. I particularly enjoy working on projects which pair artists with communities to create collaborative artworks or outcomes. Through these types of projects I have seen first-hand the important role that the arts have in transforming people’s lives and promoting strong communication and connection between community members.

It is wonderful to be able to bring this experience into my role as fundraising officer, enabling YAHT to continue to provide its essential arts therapy service, which improves the lives of children and young people.
