I’ve been a trustee with the youth arts and health trust for just over a year, and I really enjoy being part of this inspirational team. I started off working as a teacher more than 20 years ago and all my jobs since (though my career has taken several interesting tangents) have been about improving mental health.
I believe passionately in the power of the arts to change people’s mental health for the better. Listening to music is my thing, and I think anyone who’s listened to their favourite song and experienced how that can change your mood can intuitively understand how arts therapy can help people.
The pressures children and young people are experiencing right now are increasing and the work that our therapists do to support them is so important. It’s a real honour to be part of that in some small way!
